Description
This design, released in 2016, replaces the round pound coins in the United Kingdom. The new 12 sided shape also comes with enhanced security features such as the holographic mark on the obverse and micro text found on both sides of the coin.
In 2016, a special strike was released in brilliant uncirculated pack which has a mintmark on the reverse.
In 2022, to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, another special strike was released with a 26/22 privy mark on the obverse, this translates to the years 1926 and 2022, the Queens birth and death years.
